Apple today unveiled the 5th generation Apple Watch smartwatch, which features an always-on Retina display, as well as built-in compass and worldwide emergency calling.

The new phone will cost from €1,179, while the Max version will start at €1,279, with the devices becoming available from September 20th. It's also added worldwide emergency calling in over 150 countries, adding to fall detection as a safety feature.

Detailing the Apple Watch Series 5 cases and finishes, the company said "Apple is introducing a new case material made of titanium, a prized material in watchmaking that has superb strength-to-weight ratio and is lighter than stainless steel".

Like the name suggests, the always-on display allows you to view information at a glance without moving your wrist to turn the screen on - a feature that brings a lot more convenience to the Apple Watch.

That, anyway, is Apple's pitch for the new Series 5 Watch, which was unveiled at the company's headquarters in Cupertino, California on Tuesday evening with a heavy emphasis on its medical capabilities. Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS) is available to order today from and in the Apple Stores. Apple Watch Series 5 comes Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Ceramic and an all-new Titanium built.

Without doubt the headline feature is the new always-on display. This means one can use the Maps app on their Apple Watch Series 5 for navigation purposes. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, and GPS/ GLONASS/ Galileo/ QZSS. The device comes in green, space gray, silver and gold.

The next Apple Watch will also come loaded with watchOS 6 straight out of the box.

Apple has confirmed its watchOS 6 update for Apple Watch will be released publicly on Thursday, September 19th 2019.
