The University of Iowa has improved its 2020 U.S. News & World Report standings, climbing four spots to No. 34 in the touted rankings of national public universities. "We put a high value on both quality teaching and in providing undergraduates with robust research opportunities, as well as internships and jobs that prepare our students after they graduate".
College of the Atlantic was ranked the best value at ninth, the highest rank among ME schools, followed by Bowdoin at 12th, Colby at 16th and Bates at 39th. Harrisburg University was ranked No. 21 among 31 schools to make the list from the same region.
The graduation-rate performance category uses the university's six-year graduation rate and compares it to predicted performance based on admissions data, school financial resources, the proportion of federal financial aid recipients who are first-generation (a new factor), math and science orientations and the proportion of undergraduates receiving Pell grants.
The rankings show the university's reputation continuing to rise, as SC earned the No. 22 spot among flagship universities in the country and was ranked No. 44 among public universities. Wagner has appeared in the top 25% of schools in its category for more than 20 years.

The University of New Hampshire ranked 58th among public schools and 125th among national universities.

The University of Florida, meanwhile, continues to lead the way for public institutions in the state, landing at No. 7 in the rankings. Children can also be eligible for the program through transferred benefits.
"University of Iowa uses those institutions ... in order to benchmark our performance in nearly everything we do", he said.
U.S. News & World Report has been issuing its Best College Rankings for 35 years. "The climate among global research institutions grows more competitive each year, and how BU measures up is a reflection of our daily ability to evolve, innovate, and reinvent, to reach across disciplinary boundaries and produce practical new solutions to societal challenges". The Columbia campus also is home to the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, the internationally recognized expert for scholarship, policy and best practice for all postsecondary student transitions. For comparison, the median starting salary for alumni of Stanford University is $73,800 and the median starting salary for alumni of UC Santa Barbara is $55,600.
Once again, local universities received high marks in several categories.
For the third consecutive year, the institution must have enrolled a minimum of 20 veterans and active service members, or a critical mass, in the 2018-2019 academic year.
