A statement from the team reads: 'The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown.

The attorneys released a letter from Patriots officials ordering Brown to cease all communications with the artist.

Days after signing Brown, the receiver was hit with a lawsuit that alleged he sexually assaulted and raped a woman. He published text messages Brown allegedly sent his accuser.

Brown made his first appearance for the Patriots in their victory last Sunday at Miami.

Prior to being released, Brown only managed to play in one game with the Patriots.

Brown seem to confirm the Patriots' decision with a post on his Twitter account.

In the screenshots shared, the texters have accused the woman of being broke and making money by filing a lawsuit against Antonio Brown.

"I know there are questions about Antonio", Belichick said early in the meeting before adding that he had no intentions of talking about Antonio.

Asked if he was now in good standing with the league and available to play on Sunday, Brown responded that he was "super grateful to be here to play for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady". He has denied all allegations.

Belichick took the unusual step on Friday of addressing a non-football situation before being asked. "Every time you walk in the doors here, you do your best for the team", Brown said.

'I think I have already addressed this so we are going to get ready for the Jets here, ' he asserted.

On Friday, the wide receiver confirmed he has been released in a statement on social media.
