Trump Tweets: "I'm Under Investigation"

Yesterday the allegations with regards to Trump's inner circle's links to Russian officials intensified when it was reported that Mueller's special investigation was widening its scope to include Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner's financial dealings.

"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

The Washington Post ran a story late Thursday night citing unnamed USA officials as saying that special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating Kushner's finances as part of the Russian Federation probe.

"The fact of the matter is the president has not been and is not under investigation", Sekulow said on CBS' "Face the Nation", one of four political shows where he appeared on Sunday.

Trump, however, referred to the Post's reporting as a "phony" story in a tweet Thursday.

Trump advisers and confidants describe the president as increasingly angry over the investigation, yelling at television sets in the White House carrying coverage and insisting he is the target of a conspiracy to discredit - and potentially end - his presidency. Rosenstein, who would be responsible for actually dismissing Mueller, told USA lawmakers he would fire him only with good cause.

The Comey dismissal could become part of a widening investigation into whether the President tried to interfere with the ongoing Russian Federation probe.

Matsuyama meanwhile, produced an inspired round to raise hopes of a grandstand finish after he had begun the day six off the pace. The day belonged to the 27-year-old and we take a look at Sunday's social media highlights in our Twitter moment below.

In response to the statement, former US Attorney Preet Bharara, whom Trump fired in March, tweeted early Friday morning that "Americans should also exercise caution before accepting as true lies about firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director & defamation of a war hero special counsel", references to criticisms Trump has levied against Mueller and James Comey.

Earlier this month, Rosenstein told The Associated Press that "if anything that I did winds up being relevant to his investigation then, as Director Mueller and I discussed, if there's a need from me to recuse, I will".

Mr Trump is an avid user of Twitter, with more than 32 million followers on his personal account and over 18 million on the official presidential account.

In his latest tweet, the president seemed to confirm he is under investigation for possible obstruction of justice.

He also has millions of followers on his official Facebook pages. Comey confirmed that in his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week.

The president tweeted Friday, "Despite the phony Witch Hunt going on in America, the economic & jobs numbers are great". And it's up to him to decide how much to tell Rosenstein about the substance of the investigation itself. He said this week he had not found reason to do so - making the statement in the days after Trump's friends raised the possibility that the president himself was thinking of "terminating" Mueller.

Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller, declined to comment for this story, but said "that the Special Counsel's Office has undertaken stringent controls to prohibit unauthorized disclosures and will deal severely with any member who engages in this conduct". If Trump fired Rosenstein, Brand might resign because she and Rosenstein were nominated together, have a close working relationship and went through their confirmation hearings as a team.
