Mexico has scored a dramatic last minute equalizer to draw 2-2 against Portugal in the Confederations Cup.

Portugal won 2-1 the only time it faced Mexico in an official match, in the group stage of the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

"It's a dream to be playing with Ronaldo", Silva said ahead of Portugal's Confederation Cup debut against Mexico on Sunday in Kazan.

He said: "It was not the result we wanted, the team had the game nearly won and we conceded a goal in the last minutes, but that is football".

But Hector Moreno's late header denied Portugal the win in their first match in Group A. Our team practically had the match won and we conceded a goal in the final minutes. So we have to stay calm and think about the next game.

Portugal thought they had the lead after Pepe scrambled home from close range, but the VAR system ruled him offside.

Ronaldo ignored swirling speculation over his Real Madrid future to provide an assist for Ricardo Quaresma's first-half opener in Kazan in a man-of-the-match display. A report by a Portuguese newspaper two days before Sunday's game said that the Madrid forward had made the "irreversible" decision to leave the Spanish club because he was upset with the allegations.

You try to get him to chase, sorry. "Sometimes you just have to admit the fact that the other club did a very, very good job". Of course as a parent of a Tiger, Rick may be a little biased but he thinks LSU has a real shot of completing the dream.

The Video Assistant Referees would again be utilised as Chile's Eduardo Vargas was adjudged to have been narrowly offside before he found the back of the Cameroon net in the first half.

The result puts the sides level on one point each in Group A, behind hosts Russian Federation, who defeated New Zealand 2-0 in their opening game clash in St. Petersburg on Saturday.

"We played a team that has very good, technical players", said Portugal coach Fernando Santos. We'll need players to cover both sides and we'll try to control the ball as much as possible. Portugal are ranking No. 8 in the Federation Internationale de Football Association rankings, while Mexico fell one spot in the most recent rankings to No. 17.

"I can only tell you that with the squad Portugal brought, it's basically the best team they could have, apart from Renato Sanches".

The game was changed considerably by both managers' use of substitutions. "We were always more risky than them, both in our organised play and on the counter attack".

More confusion was caused when Argentine referee Nestor Pitana called a review for unclear reasons after defender Cedric Soares's deflected shot in the 86th gave Portugal a 2-1 lead.

Having threatened with a header earlier, Hernandez stole in to head home an equaliser three minutes from the interval.
