Jay Sekulow, a Trump attorney who has surfaced recently to defend Trump, appeared on NBC's "Meet The Press" on Sunday to state otherwise.
Trump tweeted, "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"
Mr Trump, he said, was merely responding to an anonymously sourced Washington Post report that said special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into links between Trump aides and Russian Federation had expanded to look at Mr Trump's firing of FBI director James Comey.
President Trump said last week he was under investigation. "It's that simple. The president is not under investigation".
Sekulow even asserted that Trump is not under investigation at all, despite reports and tweets from days ago that signified he is being probed for possible obstruction of justice. Mr Sekulow added: "The president issued that tweet on social media because of the report in the Washington Post from five anonymous sources none of which, of course, anyone knows about, alleging that the president was under investigation in this purported expanded probe".

"There is not an investigation of the president of the United States". But Sen. Marco Rubio said Sunday that he does not expect Trump to seek to fire them. "Witch Hunt." It was the first time Trump had publicly acknowledged that he's under investigation.
