There's no beta start date confirmed just yet but it'll certainly be before the release date which is a start.
BlizzCon 2019 has served up a Reaper shotgun blastful of new information about Overwatch 2, and a big revelation has been that the sequel to Blizzard's popular team-based shooter will feature a significant single-player and PvE portion.
"Didn't see any post around it but by the trailer of Overwatch 2, we can see a map not listed from the official ones announced (Toronto, Gotenburg, Monte-Carlo, Rio de Janeiro)", said user tomy0612".
Kaplan also told VG247 that players shouldn't expect a very large amount of new characters at launch, though he did reaffirm that there will be multiple new heroes alongside the 31 from the original game.

Allen Brack. Game director Luis Barriga said during the panel that "We are not coming out soon".

A lighting artist who worked on the Overwatch 2 cinematic tweeted that the "PR stuff out of our control" affected the hype. While Diablo 3 was well-received, many did not seem to like the cartoony look that the game had, and it was missing the darker tones from the original Diablo and Diablo 2. What we know so far is that there are four new maps in the pipeline alongside a new hero that'll release before Sojourn. Unfortunately, the game's appearance at BlizzCon doesn't mean we're closing in on release - on the contrary, it sounds like it'll be a long time before Diablo 4 is out.
For the PvP mode, the company has revealed the all new mode Push and it's all new Toronto map as well.
What should have been a celebration for fans of these franchises has led to a moral dilemma: Will support continue to dwindle for Blizzard and their games or will armchair activism eventually lead to people booting up their Battle.net clients again? There are abilities to unlock (or "talents") for hero missions and perhaps storey missions, but in player-versus-player modes you cannot adjust the hero abilities.
Interestingly, Kaplan suggests that multiple new heroes could join the Overwatch squad before the launch of the sequel.
