"I have just been informed that the alleged shooter at the Republican baseball practice is someone who apparently volunteered on my presidential campaign", said a statement from the former Democratic presidential hopeful.
Rep. Steve Scalise, a congressional staffer and members of the congressional police force were shot Wednesday morning in Alexandria, Virginia, during a practice for the GOP congressional baseball team.
Hean said he got a "weird" vibe from Hodgkinson while discussing politics and Ferguson at a gathering of 70 volunteers Hean hosted at his farm, saying Hodgkinson attended with two other people.
"The FBI has processed the shooter's vehicle, a white conversion van, which was parked in the parking lot of the YMCA directly adjacent to the park where the shooting took place", the FBI said Thursday. Bernie Sanders' left-wing populist movement, The New York Times is reporting.
"Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms", Sanders said in a statement he read on the floor of the Senate. "Real change can only come about through nonviolent action - anything else runs counter to our most deeply held American values". Injured in the attack were Steve Scalise, Majority Whip of the House of Representatives, two members of Scalise's protective detail, a congressional aide and a lobbyist.
Hodgkinson, who was shot dead by police, was a Bernie Sanders supporter and a fierce critic of Donald Trump.

Hodgkinson's Facebook says he is the former owner at JTH Inspections.
The Associated Press reported the Federal Bureau of Investigation believes Hodgkinson had been in the Alexandria area since March, living out of a van and not working.
Another Capitol Police officer was transported to the hospital in a police cruiser for minor injuries and has been released.
Authorities refused to confirm that identification at a mid-morning press conference. United States Capitol Police officers were also on scene, the report states.
