A day after calling off Ann Coulter's upcoming appearance for security reasons, University of California, Berkeley officials backtracked and paved the way for her to speak on campus May 2.
On Wednesday Coulter vowed to speak in Berkeley regardless of the university's decision, telling Fox News: "What are they going to do?"
In that context, Ms. Coulter's announcement that she intends to come to this campus on April 27 without regard for the fact that we don't have a protectable venue available on that date is of grave concern.
"You can not impose arbitrary and harassing restrictions on the exercise of a constitutional right", Coulter told "Hannity" on Thursday night. Trump tweeted at the time, ignoring the fact that the violent protesters weren't actually students.
In addition to Drudge, Coulter also accused the New York Times and the Daily Californian of being "fake news" for their reports of the rescheduled event.
A spokesperson for the university, however, said the cancellation has nothing to do with Coulter's views and was compounded by the foundation's lack of communication with the school. But Thursday, it announced Coulter would be allowed to speak May 2.
The University of California-Berkeley cancelled an appearance next week by conservative flame thrower Ann Coulter, after the left-leaning campus couldn't guarantee her safety. "I've acceded to all their silly demands, which they thought would end it".
White House Rejects Request For Flynn Documents
Flynn, who headed the military's top intelligence agency, was Trump's national security adviser until he was sacked in February. Rosenberg said the allegation that Flynn committed crimes is a new development and his prosecution appears likely.
A scheduled speaking engagement by conservative pundit Ann Coulter, which was originally supposed to take place next week at U.C. Berkeley before university officials pulled the plug on the appearance, is now on again.
Berkeley is known as the birthplace of the student-led Free Speech Movement of the 1960s.
She added in another post that she had instructed the Republican student group that invited her "to spare no expense in renting my speaking venue - part of my legal damages".
"It's one thing to cancel an address at the last moment because university and local police are not prepared to contain violence - as occurred, sadly, with Yiannopoulos", Reich said in a statement.
"We are dismayed that your letter suggests a disregard of the professional judgment of law enforcement regarding security concerns", Chief Counsel Christopher Patti wrote in the letter, "but we stand ready to work with BCR to find a date, time and venue where its rights and campus security can be maximized".
In February, a speech by the incendiary right-wing writer Milo Yiannopoulos, also sponsored by the College Republicans, was canceled after masked protesters smashed windows, set fires and pelted the police with rocks. "No more clear-cut proof that taxpayer-supported universities will not allow conservative speakers", Coulter told THR."I'm giving a speech", countered Coulter.
