Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first Indian prime minister to visit Spain since 1992, met the European country's top leaders and they stressed that states and entities which encourage, support, finance terrorism, provide sanctuary to terrorists and glorify terrorism should be subject to worldwide laws including restrictive measures.

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in cyber security.

Modi said he is confident that his visit to Spain will give a new momentum to bilateral ties.

Russia's increased interest in Pakistan and its acknowledgment to support the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has not gone down well with India.

He said his visit to Spain would add fresh momentum to bilateral ties.

Two agreements were also signed on transfer of sentenced persons and waiving of visas for diplomatic passport holders. He said there is enormous scope for cooperation in infrastructure, railways and smart cities.

But at the same time, Putin sidestepped a question on Kashmir, and said "it is up to you" to assess whether Pakistan is fuelling terrorism in the Indian state.

He is also expected to invite the German investors in India under the "Make in India".

Modi will also hold a round-table interaction on Wednesday with a select group of Spanish CEOs who are keen to invest and expand their presence in India.

He mentioned sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, food processing, auto, chemicals, and textiles and invited Spanish participation in the Smart Cities initiative.
