Where does Wonder Woman now stand against the other movies in the DC Extended Universe?
This weekend, Wonder Woman proved the importance of-and need for-women-led films, earning $103.1 million at the box office-the highest-grossing opening weekend for a woman director.
As per Warner Bros, the film has amassed Rs 7.40 crore (net) in its opening weekend collection in India. All the noise about Patty Jenkins breaking the glass ceiling for directors, I think that added to it as well..
Outside of the Marvel universe, the rest of Hollywood really loved it too.
For now, we can all bask in the glory that was Wonder Woman, as the DCEU finally finds its footing. But as X-Men's Storm approached her to fight, Wonder Woman dropped Mjolnir: She only wanted a fair fight.
Given the movie's huge box office success, news confirming a sequel does not seem far away.
The box office haul for the female superhero icon is smaller than the box office numbers of some of her caped male counterparts. As one example, some couldn't understand why she wanted her heroine to cross No Man's Land, a pivotal moment in the movie when Diana Prince assumes her role as a full-fledged superhero, shield and all.
French Open 2017: Defending champion Novak Djokovic loses in straight sets
Top-ranked Andy Murray is through to the French Open semifinals after beating eighth-seeded Kei Nishikori 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (0), 6-1. Thiem erased the first with a forehand volley and the other with a service victor that prompted Djokovic to roll his eyes.
Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, the eye-candy sidekick in Wonder Woman, and Gal Gadot as the Amazonian princess. I think on this movie, all of us got it right..
The superhero film, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, raked in $US100.5 million in the United States and Canada, and a total of $223 million globally.
I'm not a big obligation person when it comes to art.
Yet researchers who have spent years charting the lack of progress for female directors in Hollywood are skeptical much has changed. The question was, if Wonder Woman and Thor were to compete in a fight, who would come out victorious?
Jenkins is previously best known for directing 2003's "Monster", starring Charlize Theron; "Wonder Woman" is only her second feature film.
The movie stands to do for the upcoming "Justice League" film what the first "Captain America" flick did for Marvel's "Avengers" series, with old-school characters paving the foundation for current-day team-driven epics.
