Farm Boy and the Walmart Superstore are among 76 Ontario grocery stores that will start selling beer and cider on June 30.
Cambridge is seeing its number of beer-selling grocery stores double to four, with the Zehrs on Conestoga Boulevard and Farm Boy joined by the FreshCo on Hespeler Road and Walmart on Pinebush Road. The addition of these new outlets will bring the provincial total to 206 authorized locations.

The latest winning grocers were selected via a competitive bidding process held by the LCBO. This is the second round of Ontario's commitment to make it more convenient for people to buy beer, while opening up additional opportunities for breweries and cideries.

Finance Minister Charles Sousa said in a release Tuesday that Ontarians welcome beer and cider in grocery stores, adding this provides greater convenience and choice for consumers.
The province ultimately plans to allow sales of beer, wine and cider in up to 450 grocery stores. Beer must be stocked in designated areas, can only be sold in six-packs and singles, and costs the same as beer at LCBO stores.
Beer and cider sales have slowly been introduced to Ontario supermarkets since 2015.
