Meyer never mentioned the president's name during the investor event, but Trump's photo was seen in a slide at the conference that detailed the "key decision makers" on the EB-5 program, CNN reports.
Kushner, who is married to First Daughter Ivanka Trump, has also "divested his interests in the One Journal Square project by selling them to a family trust that he, his wife, and his children are not beneficiaries of, a mechanism suggested by the Office of Government Ethics", Roberts said.
In return, the investors would qualify for an EB-5 investor visa, a fast track to permanent legal residence in the United States.
"Kushner Companies apologizes if that mention of her brother was in any way interpreted as an attempt to lure investors", the firm said.
There was no visible mention of Jared Kushner's link to Trump at the Beijing event, but promotional posters bore the slogan, "Government supports it; Celebrity property developer builds it".
Over this past weekend, Nicole Kushner Meyer pitched a Jersey City housing development to more than 100 investors in Beijing, according to the New York Times and Washington Post (paywalls). At a Sunday presentation in Shanghai, security guards barred all media.
Kushner Companies has already benefited from the EB-5 visa program, taking in $50 million in investments to complete a 50-story, Trump-branded apartment complex in Jersey City, N.J. "That was not Ms Meyer's intention". The apology stops short of admitting that the company was leveraging Kushner's role in the White House and his relationship to the president, his father-in-law. In 2014, the most recent year for which data is available, the United States issued over 10,000 such visas-and 85% of them went to people from China.
It was not immediately known whether any of the wealthy people who listened to the Kushner company pitch in Beijing chose to invest.

She has long called for the program to end, citing reports of rampant fraud and abuse.
During Meyers' speech, reporters for the Times and the Washington Post were asked to leave after being told it was a "private event", though it had been publicly advertised.
The Kushner family wants a piece of the huge tide of money that's been flowing out of China.
This was a foul-smelling effort to use the White House, and Kushner's power, to boost the family's bottom line. The visa program is so popular with China's wealthy elites that it's commonly referred to as the "golden visa".
The EB-5 visas have proved particularly popular among wealthy Chinese, who in 2014 accounted for almost 90 percent of the 10,000 of the visas the USA approved that year, although its share dropped to about 75 percent last year.
