It was a game virtually devoid of runs, until, starting with a Thomas fast break drive, the Celtics broke out with a 20-4 run, erasing an 85-84 Bulls lead and replacing it with a 104-89 C's edge. Defensively, the Bulls are giving up 102.4 points per game against the opposing teams. After the first two games of the series, the Bulls had a 2-0 lead, with a chance to close out the top-seeded Boston Celtics at the United Center.

Rajon Rondo, who was the point guard on the 2008 Celtics team that won the franchise's record 17th National Basketball Association title, did not play for the third straight game because of the broken thumb and strained ligament in his right wrist. The Bulls averaged 109 points a game when Rondo played in the series and only 93 points in the games he didn't play. Jimmy Butler and Robin Lopez added 14 points apiece for the Bulls, who were without point guard Rajon Rondo, who is recovering from a broken thumb. The Celtics led early in the third, by 5 points, which was their largest lead of the game up to that point.

As Jimmy Butler sat with his sweat-soaked jersey still attached to his body, Dwyane Wade yelled out that all the hot water was gone from the TD Garden showers, a fitting end to a miserable night.

The Bulls won the first two games of the series. "It just shows - we used to say back then (when Rondo played for the Celtics), 'You always want to play with your dogs, ' people that are gonna play hard no matter what". Eight of those points were scored at the free-throw line, as Chicago committed a series of fouls, including two technicals. Thomas leads also in assists with 6.0 while Horford tops in rebounds with 9.5 per game.

After struggling in the first half of Wednesday's NBA Playoffs Game 5 matchup against the Chicago Bulls, Thomas decided to make a change.

Dwight Howard was a no-show for the Hawks who only scored five points on the night.

Olynyk finished with 14 points, and 5 rebounds on the night. He went 6-of-11 from the field for 13 points but he had zero assists against four turnovers. For the game, which the Chicago Bulls lost by 11, Wade was only minus-1 in his 35 minutes played.

The Wizards won 30 games at home during the regular season, the second-most in the East, and they have now collected six consecutive first-round home playoff games.
