New Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic has said he wants to fill the void left by Eden Hazard should the Belgian leave for Real Madrid this summer.

Hazard, the younger brother of Chelsea's Eden, had been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge or Liverpool but has chosen to remain in Germany and has cost Dortmund £22.5m.

"He remembers watching Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard and thinks Drogba scored a penalty kick, but the experience definitely inspired him to dream of returning and playing in the Premier League".

Then you've got Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels, who also departed the Westfalenstadion for Bundesliga glory, achieving a number of league titles in the process.

Chelsea fans are patiently waiting to hear the outcome of the club's appeal against a two-window transfer ban and their summer hangs in the balance because of it. "He is a guy to look up to and what I would love to become".

"It is definitely a goal".

The Belgium global said after Chelsea's final Premier League game of 2018-19 that he had made a decision and informed the club.

"I want to progress and Dortmund just missed the title, so there is room for progress", he said.

"It is completely new to me and something not a lot of American players have experienced".

"We want to go in with a winning mentality and compete with them right away".
