The new MacBook Pro laptops will have access to Intel's latest eighth and ninth-generation Core processors; no surprises there. This is for the first time that Apple is bring an octa-core processor to the MacBook Pro lineup.

The pricing of the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro and 15-inch MacBook Pro starts at Rs 1,59,900 and Rs 1,99,900 respectively.

Finally, and most unfortunately, the 13-inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar models are not being updated. The new starting option for the 15-inch is a Core i7 CPU with a base clock speed of 2.6GHz and a maximum boost clock speed of 4.5GHz.

For those of you who aren't looking to upgrade, but have any experienced problems with your current MacBook Pro model, Apple has good news for you as well. It gains 14nm "Coffee Lake Refresh" 9th-generation Intel processors with six and eight cores.

In addition to the notable changes on the processor side, Apple has provided an improved keyboard on the 2019 MacBook Pro models. It doesn't mean a new-style MacBook Pro couldn't be in the offing next month or later this year, but it definitely makes that report a bit more of a head-scratcher.

Apple tells me that fix times for keyboards have been longer than they would like. Complaints about the issue have proliferated, and almost everyone I know with one of these keyboards has experienced some problems (see "Class-Action Suit Filed against Apple for MacBook Butterfly Keyboards", 16 May 2018). The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar still starts at $1799 and features a 2.4 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (up from a 2.3 GHz quad-core i5).

The top-end 15-inch MacBook Pro now comes with an updated Core i9 processor, with speeds up to 4.8 GHz.

According to Panzarino, failing third-generation keyboards will be replaced with the new fourth-generation keyboard found in these updated MacBook Pros. For Apple product enthusiasts, the announcement could be great news.

On the new 2019 MacBook Pros, Apple told me it changed the material within the "keyboard mechanism".

Until people get their hands on the new MacBook Pros to test out, we'll have to take Apple's word that it's really addressed the keyboard problems this time. It could be weeks, or even months, before we know if the problems with the butterfly keyboards have been fixed to any meaningful degree.
