Spicer taking on new White House role

As the President's woes have increased with the Russian Federation and obstruction of justice investigations, the White House has increasingly tried to limit the information that is made available to the American people.

The best show on daytime television, Sean Spicer's daily press briefing, was off the air on Monday, as the White House Press Secretary opted for an off-camera gaggle.

The last time the White House held a full on-camera press briefing, Spicer completely contradicted Donald Trump's "100 percent" commitment to testify under oath.

In a statement from Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House confirmed it is looking to make a hire in the communications department.

CNN reporter Jim Acosta on Monday didn't mince any words on how he feels about the Trump administration's total unwillingness to divulge any information or answer any questions. "We're standing at the White House and they bring us into the briefing room here at the White House and they won't answer these questions on camera or let us record the audio". "If they can't give us the answers to the questions on camera or where we can record the audio, they're basically pointless".

HuffPost asked Acosta how reporters could push back against the White House's restrictions.

"That's the White House behind me", he said.

"That is the only conclusion one could draw", Acosta said.

"If he can't come out and answer the questions, and they're just not going to do this on camera or audio, why are we even having these briefings or these gaggles in the first place?" The pre-Trump practice of airing daily press briefings at the U.S. State Department used to be held up as an example of American transparency and the briefings were watched closely by leaders around the globe.
