At the awards ceremony in central London, Manchester City's Lucy Bronze was named the women's player of the year, and Birmingham's Jess Carter was named the women's young player of the year.
The 21-year-old, who joined the London club from MK Dons in 2015, has scored 20 goals in all competitions from midfield this season and is a full England global.

On a side note, more than 40,000 BBC readers selected their best Premier League XI, and the most common pick was Dele Alli. If Chelsea goes on to win the title this year, Kante will have been a key factor in their dominance.
"It's been a phenomenal journey: lots of highs, lots of lows, but I've really enjoyed every moment of it, and I feel very privileged to be here tonight to pick this up".
