UltraViolet Action, a women's advocacy organization, called on the Democratic National Committee to pull its fifth Democratic presidential debate - co-hosted by MSNBC and the Washington Post - in light of new revelations made about NBC News and NBCUniversal in Ronan Farrow's new book, "Catch and Kill."
As we reported, the Pulitzer Prize victor accused the corporate of overlaying up sexual misconduct allegations made towards disgraced anchor Matt Lauer for years, calling NBC Information a "firm with plenty of secrets and techniques" in his new e-book Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Defend Predators.
"In the meantime, Farrow's effort to defame NBC News is clearly motivated not by a pursuit of truth, but an axe to grind".
NBC News President Noah Oppenheim responded to the new allegations: "By her own account, Curry relayed no specific complaint, nor did she say Lauer " s "problem' regarded any specific workplace misconduct..."
Lauer strongly denied her claim in an open letter.
Nevils said that things did not get much better after she reported Lauer, and she eventually accepted a seven-figure payout from the network. "There isn't a proof of any experiences of Lauer's misconduct earlier than his firing, no settlements, no 'hush money" - no method now we have discovered that NBC's present management may have been conscious of his misdeeds up to now.
Nevils said she made no secret of what happened that night, and told countless people at NBC over the next three-and-a-half years.

Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is coming Niagara
On Sunday, Singh was unequivocal about his willingness to form a coalition to prevent a minority Conservative government. Singh was far less ambiguous about his plans to stop Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer from forming a government.
Nevils said in the book that she had more sexual encounters with Lauer back in New York City, telling Farrow: "It was completely transactional. We also learned a lot of lessons", the host asked if the cuts are deep enough at NBC to inspire the kind of public-facing change that her network underwent.
NBC sent a detailed memo regarding the Farrow book to its employees on Monday morning.
And his attorney Libby Locke said in a recent statement that, "in 25 years at NBC, Matt Lauer did not have a single complaint brought to his attention until November 28, 2017".
Actress Rose McGowan, who accused Harvey Weinstein of raping her in 1997 in Utah, criticized former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for protecting the former Hollywood movie producer under investigation for raping many women.
"The nature is, we know legally it's euphemistic".
On CBS, Farrow said he is hearing from some of his ex-colleagues at NBC: "There are fantastic journalists at that company", and "they are anguished over what's happening right now and some of the lies being put out by their own corporate leadership".
"In Farrow's view, he was not able to split by means of what was proficiently a conspiracy of silence from NBC Information management", Hayes continued just before reading NBC News' denial. Farrow and McHugh pursued other sources and, they soon learned, so was the Times.
