The White House will address the issue of the existence of any possible recordings between President Donald Trump and former FBI Director James Comey "probably" this week, press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday.
On Sunday, Jay Sekulow became a well-known name when he went on TV to talk about reports of President Trump being under investigation by the Justice Department for firing FBI director James Comey after Trump tweeted Friday that he was.
Trump's tweets following the report appeared to confirm the investigation, but his lawyer said it only appeared that way because of the character limit on Twitter.
"If the president thinks he can fire Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein and replace him with someone who will shut down the investigation, he's in for a rude awakening", Sen.
"You say he can't be under investigation because I haven't been told, and that's a specious premise - you know there's no duty to tell you whether he's under investigation", Cuomo said. On June 14, the Washington Post reported that Mueller had expanded his investigation to determine if Trump had attempted to obstruct justice, and was interviewing senior intelligence officials - Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, Head of National Security Agency Mike Rogers, and Rogers' former deputy Richard Ledgett - as part of that probe.
An assessment of evidence and circumstances will be completed before a final decision is made to launch an investigation of the president of the United States regarding potential obstruction of justice.

In response to this rumor, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, co-head of the House Intelligence Committee said, if Mueller is fired by Trump, his committee would hire him, "so don't waste our time".
