Donald Trump's controversial state visit left out of Queen's Speech

The Queen's Speech lacked the usual level of pomp and pageantry, with the Queen ditching her traditional red velvet Robe of State and crown for a blue day dress and hat, and swapping her horse-drawn carriage for a auto.

It would also make it easier for United Kingdom companies selling holidays across Europe as they will be able to trade under Atol rather than the protection regimes in each country they sell to, the British government said.

Eight of 27 bills outlined in the speech deal with the complex process of Brexit.

Signaling the importance of Brexit negotiations with the European Union, set to continue until the spring of 2019, the speech set out the government's program for two years, rather than one.

May's plans will need the support of Northern Ireland's DUP, which is expected to use its 10 votes to back her in exchange for more funding to the province, policies geared toward boosting its economy and assurances that Brexit will not cut it off from the neighboring Irish Republic.

The laws include the "Great Repeal Bill" to overhaul existing European Union legislation and separate bills on customs, trade, immigration, fisheries and agriculture.

The Queen confirmed that there would be a full public inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire and that an independent public advocate, who will act for bereaved families after public disasters, would be introduced.

"My government's priority is to secure the best possible deal as the country leaves the European Union", the Queen said.

But although the Government's Queen's Speech documents has a lengthy section on schools, there is no mention of this policy.

Meanwhile, May led Conservatives are still trying to agree terms with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to secure their support for a minority government after the snap general election failed to win a majority for the ruling party.

In light of recent terror attacks in Manchester and London, existing laws would be revised, but no new bills were announced.

May's own position has been called into question ever since her decision to call a snap election.

May claims it is to ensure there is appropriate time for Brexit negotiations to take place, though opposition figures say it is an attempt by May to retain power despite failing to win a majority.

Chastened by an election which left her Conservative Party short of a majority in parliament and reopened debate on the nature of Britain's European Union exit, May also sidelined reform on social care, education and corporate governance.

The Queen's Speech usually sets out the government's legislative plan for the 12 months ahead, but this year's is different.

However the main health announcement of the Queen's Speech is belied by a Freedom of Information response that shows the utter hypocrisy of Theresa May's commitment with a truly chilling statistic that should shame one of the world's wealthiest countries.
