Cristiano Ronaldo will not be leaving Real Madrid to join Manchester United or any other club, according to club president Florentino Perez.
Ronaldo, a Portuguese soccer player on Spain's Real Madrid team, was told on Tuesday that he must appear in court on July 31, ESPN reported.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has opted against a reunion with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. I have a good relationship with him after working together for eight years.
The four-time World Player of the Year said last week that his "conscience is clear" and is threatening to leave Real over the affair.
He is alleged to have defrauded on his image rights for four years between 2011 and 2014 to the tune of 14.7 million Euros. Portuguese outlet A Bola claimed that the national team skipper, now playing at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation, has told his agent Jorge Mendes to get him back to Manchester United.
Amid swirling reports that Ronaldo wants to leave Real Madrid and return to Manchester United, comes a fresh report from Spain's Marca that Mourinho is not in favor of a big-money move to sign the reigning Ballon d'Or victor.
Cristiano Ronaldo due in court on July 31 for tax evasion case
The Portuguese, who was in charge of Real Madrid from 2010-2013, was accused by Spanish prosecutors in Madrid . Ironically, a return to United, where he would reunite with Mourinho, has been mooted.
It looked like Ronaldo would be staying at Real Madrid, after winning his fourth Champions League trophy at the club. The two overlapped at Real Madrid from 2010-2013, winning one La Liga title and a Copa del Rey.
They are also accusing him of "voluntarily" refusing to include €28.4 million in income linked to the sale of his image rights for the 2015 to 2020 period to a Spanish company.
Allegations of tax evasion have become something of an epidemic in Spanish football.
Spanish prosecutors said on Tuesday that they had filed the claim against Mourinho on two counts of tax fraud from 2011 and 2012.
Tax fraud investigations in Spain have been ongoing for some time with a number of high profile individuals taken to court over charges in relation to the crime.
"Ronaldo is a lot more powerful and more important than all of us who are here", he added.
