In an attack that British Muslims say was aimed directly at them, a man plowed a van into a crowd of Muslim worshippers outside a north London mosque early Monday, injuring 10 people.
The driver has been named as Darren Osborne - a 48-year-old father of four from Wales.
LANGFITT: Police then pulled the van driver through the crowd and took him away.
"I am pleased to have been here today to see the strength of that community coming together, all faiths united in one desire to see extremism and hatred of all sorts driven out of our society", she said.
Osborne left Weston-Super-Mare several years ago and moved to a terraced house in Pentwyn, Cardiff with his partner, children and two dogs.
The driver of a van deliberately targeted worshipers leaving the Finsbury Park Mosque, an eyewitnesses said, and the attacker shouted: "I want to kill all Muslims".
Mrs May told reporters after the meeting: "The bad terrorist attack which took place last night was an evil born out of hatred and it has devastated a community".
Some locals came onto the street in support of the mosque on Monday, carrying signs saying "We love our mixed community" and "Leave our Muslim neighbours alone".
A Reuters witness saw at least one person being loaded into an ambulance.

Gatland has picked a strong but still experimental lineup, though, to meet a Crusaders team which contains nine All Blacks. The Super Rugby-leading Crusaders on Saturday present arguably the most daunting obstacle outside the three Tests.
Britain has been hit by multiple terrorist attacks and a devastating fire at a tower block in London that killed 79 people in the past few months, weakening Prime Minister Theresa May's authority more deeply especially after she lost her parliamentary majority in an election on June 8.
"A police van drove past so we flagged them down and we told them the situation".
London police chief Cressida Dick said the incident was "quite clearly an attack on Muslims" and promised a stepped-up police presence near mosques as the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close.
Munah Mohammed said one of her relatives suffered a broken back in the attack and is in critical condition.
The events have had a detrimental effect on Finsbury Park, a neighbourhood Abubakar said has "all the people from different colours living next to each other in [a] peaceful way".
Osborne's sister said he rang her at about 3.30pm on Sunday from London - but gave no hint anything was wrong. He told CNN that Mahmoud "went quickly and grabbed the guy because the people there were trying to hit and kick the guy, but he saved him, and kept him safe until the police arrived".
"By God's grace, we were able to protect him from harm", he said. "These are the values that define this city", she said later outside Downing Street.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said it is being "treated as a terrorist incident" adding: "The investigation is ongoing and we are working fast to know the full details of how and why this took place".
Scotland Yard said detectives now believe the attacker "acted alone but we are of course investigating all the circumstances leading up to the attack".
