Jared Kushner Welcomes Top Tech Executives to White House

In the chaotic months since Donald Trump assumed the presidency, few figures in his administration have seemed as enigmatic as Jared Kushner.

Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law and a senior White House adviser, is traveling to the Middle East this week in pursuit of a peace deal between the Israelis and the Palestinians, a White House official confirmed Sunday night.

In a White House full of loud voices, the powerful senior adviser tends to keep his mouth shut.

Kushner, who has been called Trump's secretary for everything because of the multiplicity of tasks and responsibilities heaped on him, has no expertise in the matter or contacts in the region - necessary qualifications for presidential emissaries before him - other than close personal ties to Netanyahu.

Despite this, he rarely gives interviews or makes public speaking appearances where he talks about the progress that he's making in his work.

"Together, we have set ambitious goals and empowered interagency teams to tackle our objectives", he continued.

So Washington took notice Monday when Kushner presided over a White House meeting of technology executives and actually took the microphone. "It's working and it's very exciting", he said. "We are here to improve the day-to-day lives of the average citizen".

Kushner did not, however, discuss recent reports that he is mulling whether to change-up his legal team in the face of investigation into the Trump administration's ties to Russian Federation.

Kushner's short speech discussed bringing the government's infrastructure up to date and also piled some blame on the Obama and Bush administrations.

The Middle East peace process is one of the key pieces of Kushner's portfolio.
