Amazon Prime Video is coming to Apple TV.
Yes, as we reported earlier last month, Cupertino has today announced its latest partnership to further build on the very extensive library of video content available on Apple TV.
Amazon stopped selling Apple TVs on its online store in 2015 because it does not offer convenient access to its content and it lacks any Prime Video app. Case in point? Since Apple and Amazon are big-time competitors, folks who owned Apple TV couldn't use it to stream Amazon Prime Video, including original shows like Catastrophe and Transparent. Critics instead saw a negotiating tactic to get Prime Video onto the Apple device, and a prod for people to buy Amazon's competing Fire TV players.

Cook didn't reveal a specific date that Amazon would hit Apple devices other than just "later this year". Amazon's popular voice-controlled speaker, the Echo, can be told to play songs from an Amazon music account or even Spotify, but not from Apple Music. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos previously stated that both companies couldn't find acceptable business terms to bring the e-commerce giant's video app on the tech giant's set-top-box. With today's announcement, Apple TV users can be confident of having a much better home theater experience in the near future. It's unclear if that's going to change now that Apple and Amazon made peace, though it seems likely.
