U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions' relationship with President Donald Trump looks to be on the rocks in the recent weeks, as the latter has begun to put the blame for various issues in the White House on the appointee. "What an embarrassment. Would he answer the same way if he'd asked about Reince?" Sources told CNN Trump is frustrated that Sessions' decision to recuse himself from the Russian Federation investigation because it led to naming of a special counsel in the matter.

Earlier this week, Trump blamed Sessions' Department of Justice for the problems the administration has had with passing a travel ban that would prevent people from Syria and 5 other predominantly Muslim countries from entering America.

The attorney general said Saturday he will accept an invitation to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday.

According to thehill.com, a new report says that in light of rising tensions with President Trump, Sessions floated the idea of him resigning. "Thank you", he mouths, heading to helicopter.

If Sessions were to drop out, the president would lose a key ally who'd be hard to replace during the ongoing Russian Federation investigations.

ABC News reported that Sessions even floated his resignation at one point.

Sessions wrote the chairmen that Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein will take his place before both the House and Senate subcommittees to testify about the Justice Department's budget.

Sessions did not specify whether he would testify in an open or closed setting.

Trump is keenly aware of the chain of consequences that unfolded after his firing of FBI Director James Comey in May, that have consumed his White House ever since, the person said on Wednesday.

Trump told people at the time that he anxious the decision would be seen as an admission of defeat - and has continued to express frustrations with the Justice Department's actions.

ABC News first reported Tuesday that Sessions offered to resign. "I have not had that discussion with [Trump], and if I haven't had a discussion about a subject, I tend not to speak about it".

During Comey's dramatic testimony Thursday, Democrats pressed him about Sessions's involvement in the Russian Federation probe before the attorney general recused himself from it.
