Saudi Arabia and allies release Qatar 'terror list'

"We are willing to sit and talk", Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani told CNN late on Tuesday.

Bahrain, along with Egypt, Saudia Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on Monday over its alleged support for terrorist groups and Iran - charges Qatar denies.

A string of countries this week cut ties with Qatar over what they say is the emirate's financing of extremist groups and its ties to Iran, Saudi Arabia's regional arch-rival.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia have banned Al-Jazeera from the airwaves and closed the channel's offices.

Qatar-based Al Jazeera News Network reported repeated cyberattacks on all of their media platforms Thursday.

Qatar's official state TV later said it had shut down its website temporarily after also facing hacking attempts.

Egypt, meanwhile, called for the UN Security Council to launch an investigation into accusations that Qatar paid a ransom of up to $1 billion "to a terrorist group active in Iraq" to release kidnapped members of its royal family. Panicked citizens have cleared supermarket shelves of produce, the country's stock market has plummeted, and Qatari nationals living overseas have been given 14 days to leave.

She argued that increasing the Conservative majority in Parliament would strengthen Britain's hand in European Union exit talks. In that scenario, Theresa May, as the incumbant Prime Minister, would have the first opportunity to try and form a coalition.

Qatar hosts the Al-Udeid military base, the largest USA airbase in the Middle East.

The US also "offered to help the parties resolve their differences, including through a meeting at the White House if necessary".

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the other hand, has approved sending troops to an existing Turkish base in Qatar as a sign of support.

"The great escalation from the confusing and confused brother country and the request for political protection from two non-Arab countries and military protection from one of them could be a new tragic and comic chapter", Anwar Gargash, UAE minister of state for foreign affairs, wrote on Twitter, referring to Iran and Turkey. Doha is the largest exporter of natural liquefied gas in the world.

"We lead the region in attacking the roots of terrorism - by giving young people hope through jobs, replacing weapons with pens by educating hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees and funding local community programs globally to challenge extremist agendas", it said. "We need the world to condemn the aggressors".

On Wednesday, the UAE's justice ministry warned social media users on Wednesday that any expressions of "sympathy" for Qatar could result in between three to 15 years in prison, as well as hefty fines.
