Sterling down sharply after exit poll predicts Tories to fall short

Prime Minister Theresa May is poised to win Britain´s snap election but lose her parliamentary majority, a shock exit poll suggested Thursday, in what would be a major blow for her leadership as Brexit talks loom.

The British pound took a hit and decreased in value after exit polls projected Conservatives won't get a majority in UK Parliament.

May, who went into the election with a reputation for quiet competence, was criticized for a lacklustre campaigning style and for a plan to force elderly people to pay more for their care, a proposal her opponents dubbed the "dementia tax".

Analysts predicted the end of Mrs May's premiership if the exit poll proves to be accurate.

It's not the first time that Thornberry has made headlines for the wrong reasons, with the member of Corbyn's top team involved in a vehicle crash interview. She argued that increasing the Conservative majority in Parliament would strengthen Britain's hand in European Union exit talks. However, between them they now have just 10 MPs and are predicted to lose some seats, making May's chances of achieving a working majority, even in a coalition, appear slim.

In that scenario, Theresa May, as the incumbant Prime Minister, would have the first opportunity to try and form a coalition. May said this week that she would consider rewriting human rights legislation if it gets in the way of tackling extremism.

Security dominated the late stages of the campaign, after the attacks in Manchester and London.

Collina said police called her after her son was stopped at Bologna airport and asked if she knew he was going to Turkey. Australian nurse Kirsty Boden , 28, ran towards people being attacked to try to help them before herself being killed.

But the terror threat was far from the only issue.

Earlier in the morning, a tense looking May said her Conservative Party would work to provide stability whatever the result of the election, which she called to give her a stronger mandate for Brexit talks. During the last election, in 2015, the Conservatives did better than the exit poll predicted.

Comey accused President Donald Trump of firing him to try to undermine its investigation into possible collusion by his campaign team with Russia's alleged efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election.

But the 68-year-old was potentially too giddy with excitement when he saw the Shadow Foreign Secretary. One year after the country was effectively split in half over Brexit, the nation now faces the prospect of political paralysis after Theresa May's election gamble backfired.

Could Labour's Jeremy Corbyn be Prime Minister?

Less than two weeks later, three assailants wearing fake suicide vests mowed down pedestrians and launched a stabbing rampage around London Bridge, killing eight people before being shot dead by police. The difference is Corbyn is on the left-wing of the Labour party - far to the left of its former leader and Prime Minister Tony Blair.
