The fire is still spreading, and Coffee County Fire Chief Steve Carver said when all is said and done the inferno will be much like the wildfires that plagued that swamp and decoyed thousands upon thousands of acres back in 2007 and 2011.
Though some people said that they would just spray their homes with a hose, which officials do not recommend, many have already made arrangements to evacuate.
Firefighters have battled to keep the blaze away from rural homes near the Georgia-Florida state line since winds last weekend pushed flames outside the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, where lightning sparked the fire April 6.

Evacuation orders remain in place for residents of St. George and Moniac areas of Charlton County, Georgia as the air in both areas full of smoke.
