"The news of Harrison Brown's (GHS Class of 2016) passing is heartbreaking".

Student Rachel Prichett said she was standing in line at a food truck outside a gym when she saw a man with a knife resembling a machete approach the person standing behind her. "Then I saw one kid laying on the ground motionless, and another student with lacerations to his head and neck", he said. But both the Austin Police Department and the UT Police Department cleared up some misconceptions and rumors Tuesday after a press briefing.

Chis Crawford, a senior in White's college said that he worked with White at Real Role Models, an organization where students provide service & mentorship. White ended the interview, telling investigators "if I did something I don't remember, then I want to be told". Officials said that they were tying to learn what was going through the attacker's mind when he went on this rampage.

Freshman Harrison Brown was killed in the attack. Harrison was an inspiration to everyone around him. "We are Blessed and honored to have known him", reads the statement on the district's Facebook page.

Former high school classmate Angela Bonilla, who now attends UT, told the Herald that "no one expected him to do this".

Friends close to White said he was an active volunteer in organizations on campus. "You can feel that most people are really nervous".

"He was involved all the time and he was at every meeting", Crawford said. He says White never appeared to be angry or sad. Anderson also shared that White had been missing classes lately.

Korbin Springer, an American studies junior, described him as the "nicest guy".

Before the attacks, White was seen in the student activity center "appearing normal".

"It was unusual", he said.

"It was unusual. He attended pretty regularly", said Springer. When White returned, he said he had been in an accident caused by a seizure. Other charges, including aggravated assault could be coming, according to Manley.

On Monday, Gregory Fenves, the president of UT, advised students to call home and let their families know that they were safe.

The crowded area of students was soon cleared as UT police and Austin police homicide detectives placed barriers marking off the entire intersection. However, the fact that he killed a student and incited violence on campus is being ignored. Many of them first learned of the attacks through news reports and social media. The campus siren wasn't used because there was no need for a lockdown to keep people in place, he said.
