But Davis' frat brothers dismissed him. "And as the night progressed it appeared from video we have from the whole incident that his injuries worsened", the district attorney said in a news conference.

Overnight, Piazza fell several more times as he tried to move about. She said Piazza fell down the stairs again the next morning. He says they are cracking down but need help. Attorneys for some of the defendants have argued that Piazza received injuries that were hard to detect, and that it was perfectly reasonable for the fraternity members to conclude that he was merely intoxicated.

"They literally delayed getting him help". He fell once more the next morning and was unconscious when help finally arrived.

Frat members were accused of trying to cover up what happened.

Parks Miller said Friday that Bream said he was in his room at the fraternity house on the night of Piazza's death, but the investigation did not reveal any evidence that would result in charges. Beta members testified to using the app "GroupMe" to message back and forth, but deleting the messages, which are reportedly unrecoverable once gone.

On the night of February 2, Piazza engaged in drinking as a part of a hazing ritual known as "The Gauntlet", and his blood alcohol content reached between.28 and.36., according to the report. Hundreds of charges were lodged, the largest number of counts against a fraternity in recent history. Fraternity president Brendan Young is one of the eight charged with involuntary manslaughter. Young said in a conversation with other member, "They could get us for giving him alcohol that contributed to his death". Right away I started freaking out. "I think he's just being charged with tampering with evidence or something like that". ABC News noted that while all fraternity members charged with involuntary manslaughter were arraigned on Friday, a few additional defendants will be arraigned early next week.

Piazza died from his injuries two days after falling from a flight of stairs after being forced to consume "a life-threatening amount of alcohol" during a hazing ritual for Beta Theta Pi pledges, according to court documents.

The documents say surveillance video shows four frat brothers carrying Piazza's unresponsive body up the stairs and placing him on a couch. Drinking by pledges could result in expulsion from the frat, the pledge manual said.

Friday, the Centre County district attorney announced 18 members of the organization now face criminal charges.

According to his Facebook page, Piazza graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Readington, New Jersey before enrolling at Penn State.

"In honor of our son, we are committed to doing everything that we can to ensure that no other parents will have to go through the pain and grief we are now experiencing", Jim Piazza said.

Note: Some of the following grand jury testimony is graphic in nature.

Penn State President Eric Barron called what happened to Timothy Piazza "inhumane treatment". It stressed the importance of leading change that would "prevent a senseless tragedy like this" again.

"We have known about concerns and challenges there (at Penn State) for quite some time. There have been a lot of concerns at Penn State", he said.

Leaders of Beta Theta Pi International also responded in a written statement, saying the charges "are incredibly disheartening as the organization and its membership continue to grieve Tim's passing and the pain experienced by his family".
