The NFL felt the passing of longtime Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney this week, with many fellow owners, players, former players and people associated with the NFL making statements about his loss. The Steelers announced Mr. Rooney died Thursday, Apr. 13, 2017. "Dan Rooney and his family, like the Maras, provided the foundation for the National Football League that we all see today", Giants chairman and executive vie president Steve Tisch said in a separate statement. He and his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers set the standard for operating a first-class professional sports franchise - both on and off the field - and his generous contributions to our community will never be forgotten.
