Liverpool did manage to find a breakthrough on the stroke of half-time through Firmino, who arrived at the far post to head home after Lucas Leiva had done well to flick on James Milner's free kick into the box.
Klopp led buoyant celebrations in front of the travelling fans, with Liverpool moving up to third in the table and keeping their bid for Champions League qualification on track.
"It's one of the most hard places to go because you can't feel comfortable in one moment of the game".
"It is a hard place to come so it makes us more happy actually. I am happy with this and let's carry on". Klopp added: "It is not only set-pieces with West Brom, they have really good footballers on the pitch and if you are a little bit less aggressive immediately they [start to] play. It's a hard place to come but that doesn't make us more happy", he said. "We scored one goal but that was enough for today". But it was excitement until the end - pretty much always whenever we are involved'.
"We know Karius had a few dodgy games, then that change happened and it's been Mignolet ever since".

Asked about the chance to overtake City with a win in the derby, the Portuguese said: "But if we beat Celta we go to the final". If they are safe thinking and they are surrounded by people with the same mentality they have, it is more time, more cautious.
And Mignolet, who made a fine save from Matt Phillips in the second period, was delighted with the manner of the performance against tough opposition.
'I'm pleased with that but like I say, everybody did theirs (job) today and that's the important thing when you play away from home - you have to grind out results sometimes'.
Alberto Moreno missed a late chance to seal the game as his shot from the halfway line, with Foster up for a corner, was wide. "I hope you're not surprised", Liverpool's manager said, when asked about his reaction at the final whistle.
West Brom manager Tony Pulis: "We've had the opportunities again and especially against the top teams you have to take your chances".
Liverpool was the better team at The Hawthorns but almost got picked off late on in West Brom's only clear sight of goal.
