It took four hours, 57 minutes of tension-filled tennis, but Novak Djokovic is now the 2019 Wimbledon men's singles champion after defeating Roger Federer in one of the most dramatic finals in the tournament's rich history.

Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton were among those in the crowd at Wimbledon on Sunday as reigning champion Novak Djokovic takes on Roger Federer in the men's singles final.

Djokovic's victory extends to 11 the number successive Grand Slams won by the so-called big three, himself, Federer and Rafael Nadal.

The Novak Djokovic vs Roger Federer Wimbledon 2019 Final will be made available on Hotstar.

This will be the 48th time Federer and Djokovic play against each other as pros, which is eight more than Federer vs. Nadal has happened.

Federer and Djokovic had the world standing at attention (with due respect to the Cricket World Cup Final) and after the match ended, reactions poured in from across the globe.

"Yeah, I think it definitely maybe helped me to play the clay, to stay match fit, match tough".

Djokovic is just four Grand Slam titles shy of the all-time record held by Federer who is more than five years older.

At least 35 injured from turbulence on Air Canada flight
A woman behind her hit the ceiling so hard that she broke the casing of an oxygen mask, said Beam, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Air Canada was arranging hotels and food for passengers in Honolulu and looking at resuming the flight, the statement said.

The over under is set at 41.5 games, which would average out to four sets of 6-4 tennis.

Former British number one Tim Henman on BBC TV: "I am still in a slight daze on Roger Federer's behalf".

Rather than seize the initiative by kicking on in the second, though, Djokovic swiftly fell two breaks behind, an awkward slip to concede the first break point setting the tone. It's a bit unusual to play a tie-break at 12-all as well. In the 1948 final, Robert Falkenburg erased three match points in the fifth set before coming back to beat John Bromwich.

Yet it was the two match points squandered with the game at 8-7 that came back to haunt Federer, as like in the earlier tie breaks, Djokovic moved into a commanding 6-3 lead before completing his title defence with a fierce serve down the middle.

'I hope I give some other people a chance to believe that at 37 it's not over yet, ' he said.

Federer has lost all four of their most recent meetings at the Slams and it's now seven years since he triumphed over the 32-year-old at the majors. You have to compliment both players.

The Serb - who for extended periods of the match had been second best - had won the match's previous two tie-breaks and he did so again, snatching victory when Federer scooped a return high.

Federer said his children may not be the happiest they have been.
