The sale of Griezmann comes after Atletico stumped up a whopping 126 million euros to sign rising star Joao Felix from Benfica last week, making the 19-year-old one of the five most expensive players in history.
Griezmann then signed up for Madrid Atletico which he left in May 2019 after playing five seasons during which he scored 133 goals.
However, Atletico believe the France worldwide agreed to terms with Barca before his clause dropped from €200m (£180m/$226m) on July 1 and therefore claim they are owed an additional €80m (£72m/$90m) to ratify the transfer, they said in a statement. He won the Europa League in 2018 and finished in the top three of the La Liga table in every campaign with the club.
He also terminated his contract with Atletico on Friday.
