The suspect fled the scene, according to local reports. Campus police found two males on the ground in a residential courtyard, said Will Sutton, the university's director of communications. The victims have been reportedly recognized as Earl Andrews a Grambling State University senior and Monquiarius Caldwell, who was not a student at the university. Sheriff's Department said that it does not believe that the shooter was a student at the university.
"This is not a random act, nor an act of terrorism", he said.
Andrews' brother, Ledarius Heard, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that Andrews and Caldwell were friends from high school and cousins by marriage.
"There's no place for violence on the Grambling State University campus".

The incident occurred as the university, a historically black college with about 4,500 students, celebrates its Homecoming this week. Last month, on September 21st, another student was shot in the arm after another altercation.
