"That's understandable, as neither the Video Editor nor the photo slideshows is especially useful".

The changes won't happen until September 20, so if you still rely on YouTube to edit your videos, you'll have a bit of time before you have to find a new service.

"We've seen a limited usage of these features, so we're retiring them to focus our efforts on building new tools and improving on other existing features", says community manager Marissa on a Google Product Forum page.

Google has announced that it will shut down the YouTube's Video Editor and Photo slideshows tools from its website on 20th of September.

Serious YouTubers wouldn't find the removal of editing tools to be a substantial loss of resource since nearly every professional video maker prefers making every small and big change to their raw videos through editing software that include Final Cut X and Adobe Premiere. Videos that have already been published via the Editor will not be affected. The company cites limited usage of the two features as the reason for the discontinuation. Enhancements let users trim, blur and filter uploaded videos, but can't be used for video creation. Creators will be able to continue to utilise the Enhancements feature, which can be found in the Video Manager section. Most creators on YouTube utilize more sophisticated, third-party editing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut Pro.
