In the near future the YouTube mobile app's videos will adapt to whatever size the user wants to watch their videos.
I could picture a scenario where you and a group of friends have a long-running thread of all of the dumb videos you find amusing on YouTube. One of them centered on an upcoming update for the mobile YouTube apps that will allow users to fill the screen with any clip, no matter what its format might be. The viewers spend more than an hour a day watching YouTube on mobile devices alone.
YouTube is also rolling out 180 degree videos.
The company also said that the TV is the fastest growing medium on the platform, which is thanks to the mass adoption of connected-TVs and Wi-Fi connected streaming sticks that brought YouTube to the living room, which must have kicked off with the launch of the Google Chromecast in 2013.
YouTube will also be revamping its desktop site.
Bill Cosby faces 2nd trial in sexual assault case
Ms Huth's lawyer, Gloria Allred, said the scheduling of a second deposition was on hold because of the criminal trial. Prosecutors get four months to decide whether they want to retry Cosby or drop the charges.
But back to the stats: "Today, I'm pleased to announce that we crossed a big threshold: 1.5 billion logged in viewers visit YouTube every single month", wrote CEO Susan Wojcicki in a follow-up blog post published this morning. "Best of all, we're working with camera manufacturers like LG, Yi and Lenovo to build new VR180 cameras for as little as a couple hundred dollars-comparable to what you'd pay for a point-and-shoot", Wojcicki said.
The company is also expanding YouTube TV to 10 more markets such as Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington DC, Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis-St Paul, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne and Charlotte.
A quarter of these views is attributed to YouTube Red which now has 37 running original movies and series.
"Now - with this expansion - millions more people will be able to stream their favorite live sports and must-see shows from top broadcast and cable networks".
With a view toward making virtual reality (VR) more accessible and affordable, YouTube revealed a new video format called VR180.
