The song that begat 'Baby Driver,' a quasi-musical on wheels

Ansel Elgort can do everything. Yes, we totally made that up, but this action movie isn't about returning home to meet the end of a flying slipper. For as many songs as are used in "Baby Driver" - and there are dozens - I give Wright and his team credit for avoiding cliche choices.

Once again, he's playing a quiet guy - Elgort stars as Baby, a skilled wheelman, coerced into paying off a debt to a crime boss.

In the acclaimed crime caper, directed by Edgar Wright, Lily plays the waitress girlfriend of a getaway driver (Elgort), who is lured into one last job.

Everyone in Elgort's accomplished family has a high-profile arts career - his father, for example, is famed fashion photographer Arthur Elgort - so celebrity is familiar, apparently neither carrot nor stick. You have encouraged us in our mission - to provide quality news and watchdog journalism.

He also stands out in a place like Hollywood because he's really tall.

Indeed, beneath all the designer violence and pounding music, Baby Driver's good natured to the point of being nearly quaint. The automotive stunts are dazzling - particularly the auto crunching finale set in the confines of a vehicle park - but the fleet footwork of Elgort and the supporting cast is just as impressive. 'Please give me one. And I did the one where I drift around the twins when I steal their vehicle, so - anything that started slowly and had only me in the auto. Spencer, who also wrote a song for "Hot Fuzz", even makes a cameo late in the film. So they didn't have to worry about Lily being there. "I just burned off a great idea on this music video", said Wright. "And then you watch the movie and you're like, 'This is not New York!'" said Wright. Debora exists only to be a love interest with nary a shred of motivations related to her own life other than getting out of town.

The music in the movie is diagetic. I would call it jazz-like in construction, but it's so confidently stitched together that none of it could be improvised.

"I am as into music as Baby is, and I think Edgar knew that when we first met".

"And that song made its way into the movie".

It's one of the drawbacks as life as a filmmaker: you can sink months or even years of your life into a screenplay that will never be sold or a movie project that will never go into production.

"I had tinnitus as a kid of 7 or 8, and it was very painful". [Wright] said that's what won me the role: just seeing me jam out to something while also being freaked out about this dude being dead.

"I loved Gino's for dinner".

"It was a really heartbreaking decision to have to walk away after having worked on it for so long, because me and Joe Cornish in some form-it's amusing some people say, "oh they've been working on it for eight years", and that was somewhat true, but in that time I had made three movies". "Yes, and through dance".

"From there, I went down through Virginia on the Blue Ridge Parkway, then North Carolina and then Nashville and Memphis, which where both incredible".

"Jon Hamm, who brings so much weight and incredible-ness to the movie, I cannot tell you how many girls called me and said 'So when you shooting? Very soon after I was lucky and I did Carrie".

This is a film which just oozes cool.

"Yeah, I love making movies". I listened to "Bellbottoms" all the time. I think that's where the passion for musical theatre comes from.
