"We are looking at every criminal offense from manslaughter onwards", Detective Superintendent Fiona McCormack said on Friday in a press briefing.
Heartbreaking messages written on red London Fire Brigade T-shirts offer poignant tributes alongside flowers, toys and candles at the shrine.
Another firefighter wrote "Our hearts go out to everyone touched by this tragedy". The Health Service Journal reported a letter has been sent to NHS trusts urging them to check buildings for combustible cladding in the wake of the fire.
She said: "At the end of today, they told us they could not guarantee our residents' safety in those blocks and so I have made the really, really hard decision to move the people living there into temporary accommodation while we do the urgent works to guarantee safety".
"We have just been informed that the fire may have originated in a Hotpoint fridge freezer (model number FF175BP)".
Samples of insulation and tiles were taken from the cladding on the building and both failed fire safety tests.
But for "tenants and leaseholders" peace of mind" the council assured that all the cladding used by contractors on their buildings "meets current building and fire safety standards'.
The fire that devastated a 24-story apartment building last week began by accident - and the source was a refrigerator, London police say.
A Hotpoint FF175BP model was found to have been the fridge-freezer at the centre of the tragedy and followed witness reports from June 14 that one resident claimed his appliance was responsible.
Scalise is now in 'fair' condition after shooting at congressional baseball practice
Before that, he had been in critical condition since he was brought to the hospital in shock after the shooting . The update Wednesday also said Scalise is "beginning an extended period of healing and rehabilitation".
As well as investigating the cladding and insulation materials, McCormack said the force was examining "how the tiles were fixed to the building and how they were installed".
NO council or housing association high-rise block in Scotland has cladding of the type said to have been used in the Grenfell Tower.
At least 79 people either died or are presumed dead in the blaze, and McCormack said the number could rise further.
"I do not know who they are at the moment", McCormack said as she appealed for those with information to come forward. "That's the number I'm really anxious about", she said.
"We are working with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy who are talking to the manufacturer of the fridge freezer", the detective told reporters, adding that the model has not been subject to any product recall.
Three blocks with aluminium cladding panels have been identified in Newham, in east London, three in Barnet, north London, and one in Havering, east London.
As questions about the cladding's safety gain attention, inspectors are evaluating other buildings in Britain that used the same materials.
The fire has acted as a focal point for anger at local authority funding cuts and, if more buildings are deemed unsafe, the government faces the task of rehousing people within existing social housing facilities which are stretched.
