The professional basketball player has revealed that he wants to be in Los Angeles Lakers. With Jimmy Butler on his way to the Minnesota Timberwolves to reunite with coach Tom Thibodeau, the Celtics may be turning their attention fully toward George and the Pacers. Also, no other team that is now building will trade any assets for George just to have him leave for LA after one season. However, as Aldridge mentioned, he is a restricted free agent and with the latest changes to the CBA, Porter would lose money if he didn't re-sign with the Wizards instead of a sign-and-trade deal, so that makes things tricky. George, who can opt out of his contract next summer, could sign a four-year max contract for as much as $130 million with the Lakers before the 2018-19 season.
Overall, the Cavs do have a legitimate shot as they can offer a star player in return for George.
Everybody thought the rental team that would be most involved in George discussions was going to be the Cavaliers.
Paul George and LeBron James, pictured during the 2017 NBA All-Star Game at Smoothie King Center on February 19, 2017 in New Orleans, are reportedly both targets of the Los Angeles Lakers. This illustrates the Law of Unintended Consequences - George believed that telling the Pacers of his plans would put the team in a better position to succeed after his exit.

He also said that the chief minister met farmers' leaders on June 4 and assured that their problems will be resolved. However, farmers' association said that at least eight protesters were killed when the police opened fire at them.
A George trade doesn't appear imminent, according to The Indy Star's Nate Taylor, and the Pacers don't feel any pressure to get a deal done before Thursday's NBA Draft. They traded D'Angelo Russell, the 2015 No.2 overall draft pick, in what was essentially a salary dump.
The Pacers could try and make a deal with the Lakers in order to get something in return, but with Los Angeles not in need of negotiating should the reports of George's intentions be true, a trade may not be possible. Kyrie Irving is under contract for two more years, and Kevin Love is signed through the 2019-2020 season.
"However, Tristan Thompson alone won't be enough to swing a trade to land George even with the Pacers" lack of leverage. The first is you're competing to win a title and his one year on the team could make that a possibility.
The Lakers aren't interested in that scenario as they have the knowledge that George could be had on the free-agent market 13 months from now.
