Dinakaran had claimed the AIADMK needed the jailed party leader's approval for any presidential candidate they supported.

BJP's National Vice President Shyam Jaju told ANI that "today the Opposition seems a divided house as many opposition parties have extended support to Ram Nath Kovind". With possible support of JD-U, the vote share of NDA in the electoral college go up to nearly 63 per cent. The parties are now learnt to be veering towards fielding a strong Dalit candidate of their own to take on BJP's Kovind. He also said that the party's decision has been conveyed to Gandhi and Lalu Prasad, the chief of coalition partner RJD.

"I have informed of my decision to Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) national president Nitish Kumar that he can not vote for Mr. Kovind as he is a BJP member", he said.

The much-vaunted opposition unity for the Presidential polls is likely to water down with more parties expected to join the ranks of JD (U) and BSP, which have tilted in favour of NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind.

Kovind, who is the Bihar Governor, was in town as guest of Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat between May 28 to 30 along with his wife and children.

In the process of nominations, the secretary general returning officer of Lok Sabha will be present.
