Hodgkinson shot and critically wounded Rep. Steve Scalise as he and several other Republican members of Congress were practicing for a charity baseball game with their Democratic colleagues at a ballfield in Alexandria, Va., last Wednesday.
An FBI statement Wednesday said items found on Hodgkinson, who had been living in his vehicle in Alexandria at the time, included a piece of paper that contained the names of six members of Congress. Officials did not disclose the names.
Hodgkinson, who died from injuries after the shooting, did not have any ties to terrorism, Tim Slater, head of the Washington FBI office, said at a news conference.
Officials also said Hodgkinson had kept a storage locker in Alexandria and visited it 43 times between April and June, usually between 6am and 7am At times, he went to the unit daily and sometimes more than once. "He is now listed in fair condition and is beginning an extended period of healing and rehabilitation".
Investigators continue to review data on Hodgkinson's laptop and phone, adding more details to the days leading up to the shooting. The main one, which is not a surprise by this point, is that the shooter, James Thomas Hodgkinson, acted alone and had no terrorist connections. And sometime between April 15 and April 26, Hodgkinson visited the Capitol Hill office of U.S. Sen.
The FBI says it found police calls to Hodgkinson's Belleville home over complaints of his holding target practice in his backyard, and a 2006 domestic battery charge.

The state said the Federal Emergency Management Agency also was moving 125,000 meals and 200,000 liters of water into Louisiana. The center of the storm hit just south of Lake Charles, Louisiana, the National Weather Center's Hurricane Center said.
After the shooting, investigators searched Hodgkinson's home in IL and a storage facility in Alexandria he began renting in April.

The gunman who shot at Republican lawmakers practicing for a charity baseball game did not post online any threats against or references to members of Congress before the attack, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Wednesday. Hodgkinson was fatally wounded in a shootout with police. Bernie Sanders, whose 2016 campaign he had volunteered for, and emailed the offices of Illinois Democratic senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin.
His attack left Congressman Steve Scalise, two others, and Capitol Police officers Krystal Griner and David Bailey, injured. "When the witness responded that it was a Republican event, Hodgkinson reportedly remained at the baseball field".
Hodgkinson also frequented a local library during his time in the Alexandria area and, based on photographs found on his cellphone, saw various sites in D.C., such as the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress and the Washington Monument.
