Police are investigating whether or not a 17-year-old girl killed in Virginia over the weekend was also sexually assaulted.

Nabra's father, Mahmoud Hassanen, said he believed it was a hate crime, regardless of what the police have said.

A memorial for Nabra Hassanen, the 17-year-old Muslim girl who was murdered on her way back to her mosque for an all-night prayer session in Virginia on Sunday, was set on fire in Washington D.C. on Wednesday.

According to the outlet, the fire occurred on the same day as a planned memorial service for Hassanen, 17.

Hassanen was with a group of friends walking back to All Dulles Area Muslim Society mosque when Darwin Martinez Torres jumped the curb in his auto and drove at them. Police say the driver chased the group in his vehicle, then got out with a baseball bat and caught up with Hassanen, brutally beating her. A Hassanen family spokesman said all the girls in the group were wearing Muslim headscarves and robes.

"It's hard to believe her appearance had nothing to do with it", Allen said at a bus stop near the memorial.

Nabra's body was found in a Loudoun pond.

Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Raymond F. Morrogh said Tuesday that the criminal case against the suspect would remain in Fairfax and did not rule out pursuing hate crime charges if fresh evidence pointed in that direction. "We don't judge people by color or by religion".

"That's the myth, isn't it?" the chief said.

The agreement will be reflected on the Boeing Orders and Deliveries website once finalized. "Yes", he told a news conference. He was speaking shortly after agreeing to convert orders for 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft into newly launched 737 MAX 10.

The memorial for Nabra Hassanen was caught on fire on Wednesday morning. They said Martinez Torres caught up with Hassanen and beat her as her friends scattered, then put her in his vehicle, assaulted her again and dumped her body.

Nabra's vicious murder must be examined within the context of that data - Islamophobia, anti-Muslim extremism, and anti-Muslim violence is real and we can not dismiss it.

"She was very, very kindhearted, always smiling, always dancing", Neshanti Morgan, 16, said on Wednesday as she walked into ADAMS, where the funeral prayer service was starting.

The crowd overwhelmed suburban traffic, and cars jammed into neighborhood streets more than a mile away to park. "Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hispanic, whatever".

"I hope nothing happening to the other families, like what happened to my daughter", he said.

"This whole week, I've been going to the Masjid every night and coming home late at the same hour and I've been going to places with my friends late at night just so I can prepare for Ramadan in the last final days". According to some reports, the teenager might have been raped before she was murdered.

"I have two daughters". "It could have been anybody".

Further, many are still waiting to see if the investigation reveals that "the perpetrators acted based on a bias against the victim's race, color, religion, or national origin", or "those based on biases of actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or gender" per the Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009.
