One man has been confirmed dead and 10 others were injured when a van ploughed into a crowd of people near a London mosque just after midnight on Monday local time, as worshippers were leaving following Ramadan prayers.

One man was killed and another eight have been injured after a van drove into worshippers close to a mosque in north London.

"This was quite clearly an attack on Muslims who looked like they were probably Muslims and they were coming from a prayer meeting", said the Met police commissioner, Cressida Dick.

There will be more uniformed officers at places of worship, including mosques and Muslim community centres, as police try to reassure local people.

Witnesses reported seeing one man giving CPR to a victim in the street, while another man's head injury was treated with a makeshift dressing.

Though Trump was quick to denounce those earlier attacks, on Monday morning-with the targets and victims Muslim and the alleged assailant a white male-the president found better things to do with his Twitter account.

According to a BBC report, more than 60 medics arrived, including ambulance crews, advance paramedics, specialist response teams and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance.

Police said they declared the attack at the mosque was as a terrorist incident with 20 minutes of them receiving a report of a van colliding with pedestrians.

"We offer our condolences to all those who have been affected by the attack".

Camera footage from the scene shows the man later identified as Osborne screaming "kill me".

The incident is being investigated as a terrorist attack and has been referred to as such by UK Prime Minister Theresa May. And the guy was shouting, basically he was saying, "it's our turn, this is for the people [that] you killed earlier".

The attack outside the Muslim Welfare House comes on the heels of two recent attacks in London in which vehicles have also been used as weapons, both on bridges over the Thames River.

"It is a reminder that terrorism, extremism and hatred take many forms and our determination to tackle them must be the same, whoever is responsible", she said.
