But Jay Sekulow, part of Trump's legal team, said the president was writing about reports of an investigation, not an actual probe.

Recent news reports have suggested Trump sought all three officials' help in pressuring FBI Director James Comey to drop his investigation into former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn.
Sekulow said it was a response to an article in the Washington Post alleging Trump was under investigation for obstruction of justice.
But Rosenstein could end up recusing himself, too, Justice officials say, in part because he played a role in President Donald Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey.
Trump's fledgling presidency has been battered by allegations - being dissected both by Congress and the Federal Bureau of Investigation - that Russian Federation interfered to sway the 2016 election in his favor, in possible collusion with the former real estate magnate's campaign team. And now his lawyer, Jay Sekulow, has made the weird claim that is is not Trump's actions which were potentially unconstitutional, but rather the investigation into those actions itself.
Comey made the existence of this investigation public in a March hearing before the House intelligence committee. These reports point to an important twist: Trump is now the subject of a criminal investigation because of actions he took as president.
Schiff said if the panel can't get an answer then he believes a subpoena will be needed.
Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller, declined to comment for this story, but said "that the special counsel's office has undertaken stringent controls to prohibit unauthorized disclosures and will deal severely with any member who engages in this conduct".
The letter to campaign officials was signed by Michael Glassner, the Trump campaign's executive director, and sent in an envelope from the Jones Day law firm, which the campaign retained to field inquiries from investigators, according to a copy of the letter obtained by CNN.

If he does the unthinkable and fires the key players in the investigation into Russian Federation and potential obstruction of justice, then impeachment proceedings will soon follow.
