President Donald Trump acknowledged on Friday that he is personally under investigation as part of a widening probe into alleged Russian meddling in last year's USA presidential race and possible collusion by his campaign, an inquiry that has cast a shadow over his five months in office.
The Democratic National Committee, in a statement Friday, said that Rosenstein, who has authority over Mueller, needs to recuse himself from the Russian Federation investigation and that control of the investigation should not be given to another presidential appointee. "Witch Hunt", wrote Trump.
On Friday morning, Trump, in a tweet, appeared to be attacking Rosenstein. He then stated again that Trump was not being investigated.
President Donald Trump's closest allies are attacking the integrity of those involved in the widening probe of Russian interference in the US election, accusing special counsel Robert Mueller of driving a biased investigation. Several congressional committees are also investigating the Russian Federation matter.
And then finally, he tweeted, I'm being investigated for firing the Federal Bureau of Investigation director by the man who told me to fire the Federal Bureau of Investigation director.
The president has directed some of his frustration at Rosenstein and Mueller. Sen. "But you're his attorney and you're saying the president, when he said that, was not accurate". Comey testified that the member of his leadership team said that although it was true at the moment that Trump was not under investigation, it was possible that could change. "That's undemocratic on its face and a blatant violation of the president's oath of office".
Rosenstein, the former USA attorney in Maryland, was forced to take over supervision of the Russian Federation investigation because Attorney General Jeff Sessions had recused himself. But Rosenstein, too, may ultimately have to hand off oversight given his role in Trump's decision to fire Comey.
"I can say categorically that the collusion or cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over", the Maine senator told "Meet the Press", adding that the probe could be done by the end of 2017. Trump himself took aim Friday at the senior Justice Department official responsible for appointing Mueller, accusing him on Twitter of leading a "Witch Hunt".
Trump set to roll back Obama policy on Cuba
The trips were made easier by the resumption of scheduled commercial air service from the USA for the first time in decades. For example, the Cuban government could disguise the properties of GAESA under the facade of new entities.
The officials who described the financial focus of the investigation spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. The order also covers separate inquiries into several key Trump associates including former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, campaign adviser Paul Manafort, foreign policy aide Carter Page and outside adviser Roger Stone. The White House has not commented on this possibility.
Vice President Mike Pence has hired a private lawyer to represent his interests in the expanding probe. Last month, news surfaced that Kushner may have discussed creating a secret communications channel between the Trump transition team and the Kremlin with Kislyak.
The transition official said the organization has also separately asked the General Services Administration to preserve records from the Trump transition that were transferred to its facilities after the inauguration.
President Donald Trump put fresh pressure on the second-highest-ranking official at the Justice Department on Friday, raising concerns among the president's critics that Rod Rosenstein could be in danger of being fired, while others argued that if he stays, he should recuse himself from his role overseeing the special-counsel probe that has engulfed the White House.
"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?" he asked at one point.
"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice", Trump wrote in his first tweet.
"You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!" the president tweeted.
