May has said the divorce talks, likely to be the most complex in Europe since World War II, will begin as planned next week and her Brexit minister, David Davis, said Britain's negotiating position was unchanged.
He said "timetables and deadlines" could be "somewhat counter-productive" as he addressed reporters in Downing Street after talks.
The delegation of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) included DUP leader Arlene Foster and Simon Hamilton, a key DUP figure, who served as the economy minister in the Northern Ireland Executive from 2016 until its collapse in January 2017, while Sinn Fein were represented by Michelle O'Neill, Michelle Gildernew, Gerry Adams and Mary Lou McDonald.
While Sinn Féin will not be best pleased that the DUP will have such a pivotal role in facilitating the Brexit process, given that the majority of voters in Northern Ireland voted to remain in the European Union in last year's referendum, their influence on the British government may help make it a softer exit, which would suit the Republic of Ireland better.
A former minister has warned the Prime Minister could face hard negotiations in the form of the DUP as she clings to power. The DUP have 10 seats, enough to give May's Tories a slim majority if they back them on every vote.
Labour is believed to be considering tabling amendments to Wednesday's speech on a range of issues including school cuts, preserving the winter fuel allowance, and scrapping the bedroom tax, which some Conservatives may allow to pass by abstaining on the vote.
"I want us to have a good working relationship so that from his jurisdiction and my jurisdiction we can work together for the good of all our people", she added.
The Conservative source said: "We're confident of getting an agreement, we're confident that the Queen's speech will be passed".
Brroks Koepka wins US Open title
It's the first time since 1998-2000 (Lee Janzen, Payne Stewart and Tiger Woods ) that Americans have won it three straight times. It appeared as though Koepka and Harman were set for a memorable battle when Koepka held a one-stroke lead after the front nine.
House of Common leader Andrea Leadsom said Parliament will need "the maximum amount of time to scrutinize these bills" by holding a two-year session.
Brexit talks to be delayed?
Theresa May will depend on the unionist party to support her government after her party lost their majority in last week's election.
She said the mark of any politician is how they stay the course when things are tough.
"If there are difficulties with the Northern Ireland executive or with any one of a number of things that might well arise during the Brexit negotiations, it's very important that there's an honest broker - and the only honest broker can be the United Kingdom government", Major said.
Prime Minister Theresa May will offer to protect the rights of European nationals as part of Brexit negotiations later this week.
One European diplomat in London said the political upheaval was such that it was hard to know what to write back to his capital, pouring scorn on May's campaign slogan of "strong and stable leadership".
