US Secret Service says it doesn't have any Trump tapes

One big strike against President Trump's insinuation that recordings of White House conversations might exist: The Secret Service isn't aware of any.

The U.S. Secret Service said Monday it doesn't have any recordings or transcripts of any tapes recorded within President Donald Trump's White House, a disclosure that failed to rule out whether any tapes exist of Trump's conversations with ousted FBI Director James Comey.

After asking for a timeline on their release, Spicer said they would come out "when the president's ready to release it".

One day after the ousted Federal Bureau of Investigation director testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee Thursday, Trump held a press conference with the leader of Romania in the Rose Garden.

That doesn't mean, however, that the recordings don't exist.

Prior to Comey's June 6 testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee, Trump tweeted a message to the former FBI Director, cautioning him about the possibility of any possible tapes that existed.

At a press conference Friday, Trump said he would reveal whether he had taped his conversations with Comey "in the very near future" and "over a fairly short period of time".

Aluminum composite panels essentially consist of two thin layers of aluminum sandwiched around a lightweight insulating material. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined , though some have mentioned the explosion of an appliance could be the cause.

But to many inside the White House, in other parts of government as well as to several close associates of the President, there is far less urgency or mystery. The Secret Service's response does not, however, cover any potential recordings made without the agency's knowledge.

If President Trump did secretly record his private White House meetings, he didn't enlist the Secret Service to help.

Donald Trump didn't just accuse James Comey of lying to the public; the president also argued his new nemesis lied to Congress while under oath.

Attention in Washington has turned to whether Trump might seek to fire Mueller, the former FBI director named last month by the Justice Department to head the federal probe into the Russian Federation issue.

In May, Trump tweeted Comey "better hope there are no tapes" of their conversations.

Trump himself has also refused to make any definitive statement on the existence of tapes, saying Friday that reporters would be "very disappointed" when he gives them his answer.
