Open defecation: Man objected to photography of ladies, beaten to death

A group of government officials allegedly thrashed a 55-year-old Muslim man for trying to stop them from photographing women defecating in public in a Rajasthan town on Friday. They started clicking our photos, abusing us and kicking our water mugs.

Municipal council announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 Lakh for Zafar's family. The workers were clicking the picture with the objective of shaming them and attempting to discourage them from open defecation.

In a scandalous incident reported from Rajasthan, a man allegedly died after being assaulted by the municipality officials working on Swachh Bharat campaign after he objected them to stop taking photographs of women defecating in the open on Friday, says police, reports a national daily. "The men started taking photographs of the women", according to the complaint.

Cops, however, said that autopsy report suggested that Khan died of heart failure.

In retaliation, municipality employees kicked, punched and beat Khan with a stick, which led to his death, according to the FIR lodged by Khan's elder brother Noor Mohammed.

The Express added that based on Jain's complaint, an FIR was lodged against Khan at the Pratapgarh station under IPC sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty).
